1999 Christmas Bear Hugs® Drive The picture above is from the first year Bear Hugs was done.
Bear Hugs® is a registered
program of Healing Hearts, Inc.
that was started in December of
1999 by Melissa Barrett
in memory of Noah and all the
babies gone from this life too soon.
When a precious baby dies the
mom is given a teddy bear to take home in memory of her baby. No, a teddy bear
will never replace her baby but it will give her something to hold when her
arms ache to hold her baby, for some mom's this teddy bear will be the only
thing that she has to remind her of her baby. No mom should ever have to leave
the hospital empty handed as many of us have and this way she has something to
take home in memory
of her baby. Bear Hugs® has
been very successful since it began. We have helped to fill so many mother's
empty arms. We have gotten wonderful feedback from Mother's who receive these
bears, from the Nurse's who many times give them out and even many
Doctor's. All Teddy Bears are donated by Mother's who have lost babies
themselves in memory of their precious babies. Each Teddy Bear has a card
attached to them saying how Bear Hugs® got started and why. On the inside of
each card there is a message that reads:
"This Teddy Bear was donated
in Loving Memory of ________".
You may also add a personal
message if you wish.
You may donate a Teddy Bear by
sending it along with the information
you would like to be added on
the card to:
